Tonto Forest needs volunteers to help clean up Salt River


The Tonto National Forest is seeking volunteers for the 19th annual Salt River Cleanup from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Registration will begin at 7 a.m. at the Pebble Beach Recreation Site at the Lower Salt River Recreation Area.

Lunches and beverages will be provided free to volunteers, along with trash bags and parking.

Participants are urged to wear close-toed, rubber-soled shoes that can be worn in and around water, as well as sunscreen and gloves. Volunteers with kayaks or rafts are also needed.
