Creswell Scouts among more than 90 tree-planting volunteers
On Saturday, Sept. 27, more than 90 volunteers dedicated their afternoon to planting trees and shrubs in the Pine Meadows Campground at Cottage Grove Lake.
Most of the volunteers were from Creswell and Cottage Grove, with a few from Eugene and one from the Portland area. The majority of the volunteers were associated with local Girl Scout and Boy Scout groups.
The tree-planting project was part of National Public Lands Day, the nation's largest annual, single-day volunteer restoration effort for America's public lands. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the agency that manages Pine Meadows Campground, sponsored the local event.
